Have a safe and fun Memorial Day next weekend, and I hope to see many of you at the Tuesday Mass and Awards Day on June 1. Thanks for all of your help and support this school year!

Happy belated Mother's Day to all of our fourth grade moms! I was busy enjoying Mother's Day weekend as well and time got away. We had a lot of fun getting your little pot, flowers, and card put together for you. All the children worked very hard on this project and you are all extremely loved!

This Tuesday, May 18, our pen pals from Queen of Peace are going to be joining us for lunch at our school and then presenting a play called "The Prodigal Son." This will be the first time that we have met them, so it should be fun.
Wednesday is our school picnic and all the information is out on that.
Thursday is our field trip, and many of you will be joining us for that event. Please be at our classroom by 9:15 so we can leave promptly at 9:30.

May--the final frontier (except for two hours on June 1)! This will be a busy month as we try to wrap things up academically and enjoy all the fun stuff like Field Day, the school picnic, and our fourth/fifth grade field trip. Permission slips and medical forms will be coming home tomorrow, so please check your child's school bag for both of them. If you are going to be a chaperone, please send in your money with your child's forms no later than May 10.
This Tuesday is the Spring Concert at 7:00. The students have all been working hard to make this a fun evening for you, and we hope to see you all there!
Wednesday is early dismissal so the students will be out at 1:30.
Friday each student needs to bring a flower for the May Crowning Mass. There will be a special breakfast after church for all of our students. In our Religion class this week we will be studying the Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy, and there will be a test on that on Friday.
Have a great week!

Don't forget to return the Field Trip survey, even if you won't be able to join us on May 20. Right now we just need to know who is going and who will not be going. The deadline is Friday.

This will take the place of the Wednesday mass. Then, in the afternoon, we will be working on our auction project.
Music and band will resume this week, so be sure the instruments and band books make it on Wednesday and Thursday.

Not only are we starting a new season, but a new quarter--fourth and last--also begins tomorrow. Can report cards be far behind? Be on the lookout as they are mailed by Friday.
A quick rundown on this week includes our fourth grade Mass this Tuesday, followed by a visit by Bishop Braxton on Wednesday morning. Also on Wednesday, last chance for Six Flags reading forms to be handed in since the former deadline was extended.
Thursday morning will start with the second grade play in the gym. Don't forget the 11:00 dismissal on Friday due to the teacher workshop.

Happy "Spring Forward" weekend and Happy early St. Patrick's Day! We will be doing a special St. Patrick project on Wednesday, so be sure to ask your fourth grader all about St. Patrick at dinner that evening. Sunday 14th is the fourth Sunday of Lent, the rose-colored break from the rest of the violet vestments of the other Lenten weeks. Ask what the colors represent and let your child tell you all about it.
We will be labeling the NE states on the map this week as we start the Northeast region. I will send the state food dates home as soon as we get the new lunch menu.
Don't forget that Wednesday is early 1:30 dismissal!
Thursday is Pizza Day, so be sure to get that money in ASAP. There will also be an English test on nouns. Thursday evening is another Open House.
No school for the students on Friday, but I'm sure they won't forget that!
Have a great week!

Congratulations to all of our students who competed in the District Solo and Ensemble Contest! They have all worked so hard this year with Mrs. Freuler. Almost all of our class is taking the challenge to attend Mass every Sunday as well! I hope to see them out of uniform after Easter!
If you are in our school in the next few weeks, be sure to check out the bulletin board next to the office. That is where we have hung our Shoebox Stations, and they look very impressive and devotional. Thanks again to anyone who lended a helping hand in completing this very special Lenten project.
Tuesday we will be having an English test on Ch. 5, and on Wed. there will be a Social Studies test on Ch. 8. Before an afternoon of fun at the Spring Carnival on Thursday, the Ch. 8 Vocabulary test will be given. The Challenge for Pasta for Pennies will take place in the morning too.The last day for Pasta for Pennies is Friday. There will also be a Religion test on the First Commandment and a Reading test on our upcoming story "John Henry" on Friday.
It sounds like this will be a fast and fun week!

Lion or lamb? We'll soon see. Next week is looking good weatherwise, which means more outdoor recess days in the future at last!
The Six Flags "Read to Succeed" was extended until this Tuesday, so if your child still has a few hours to go, there's still time.
Don't forget to pick up pet supplies for our Covenant Project, The Humane Society, if you get to the store this weekend. There's only a short time left!
Wednesday is early dismissal at 1:30.
Thursday is the Science Carnival. Our class will be attending in the afternoon, but it is also open in the evening.
State foods for the Middle West were given to the students on Friday. If you choose to make the food, just send it in on the day you have been assigned. This is an optional activity! The students enjoy it, but it is not for a grade! If you need to change the day, it is OK to arrange to switch with another parent. Don't forget that you need to send in plates, spoons, or whatever is needed to eat the food! Thanks ahead of time if you are planning to do this!
There is a Social Studies test on Tuesday over Chapter 7, and we will review in class on Monday for that. On Wednesday will be the Middle West states and capitals test, which includes the 5 Great Lakes. We labeled a map in class and wrote in all the information that will be on the test. All that's left is to study it!
The Shoebox Stations are beautiful, and as soon as the Science Fair projects are removed, we will hang the stations in our hallway.
Thanks to all who sent in a book order by last Friday! Don't forget to write a check; no cash can be sent.
The Fourth Graders are doing a great job and working hard in class! Thanks as always for all of your help and support!
