New Student

Fourth Grade is thrilled to have gotten a new student today!  We hope he will love being in our class!

We are busy trying to finish up the Social Studies projects for the Northeast.  Next week we will be starting to bring in samples of some of the state foods.  If your child hasn't gotten your signature yet, please ask!  Nothing can be scheduled until we know who is able to do it.

There is no school on Monday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther  King.  Have a  great weekend!

Welcome to 2008

Happy new year to all of our fourth graders and their parents!  As soon as we return, we will have Althoff students helping out at St. A's.

Thursday, Jan. 3, is the start of third quarter.  The next few weeks will be calm next to the excitement of December!

Second Week of Advent

Have you all been lighting two candles on the Advent Wreath?  We have

been doing this every day in our classroom.  Be sure to ask your child about

who we have discussed for the Jesse Tree.

The Band Concert is Wednesday night at 7:00.  All of our beginning band

students have been busy preparing for that.  They're sounding pretty good!

We are getting ready to answer pen pal letters for the third graders at

Queen of Peace.  We also have a big art project scheduled for Friday.

A Social Studies test , English test, and Vocabulary test all need to be fitted

          into the lineup as well.

There's no such thing as a slow week in Fourth Grade!

First whole week of December

We are celebrating the first week of Advent with the lighting of our class

Advent wreath every morning.  This is followed by hanging the ornament

on our Jesse Tree and reading the story that goes with it.  Be sure to ask

your child what the Bible story of the day was!

Our Chorus has been practicing very hard for the concert this Wednesday

night at 7:00.  I hope to see you all there!

After Thanksgiving

We are all trying to get back in the swing of things. Turkeys are coming

down and Christmas pictures are now hanging.  Our Jesse Tree is in

place and we will make the Old and New Testament ornaments this week

We are working on the Advent Wreaths and hope to send them home on

Friday.  If anyone has any more cardboard egg cartons please send them

          in by Thursday.

In math we are starting multiplication.  The students tried to complete 100

basic facts in four minutes but nobody could do it.  Please quiz them at

night if you can.  Practice makes perfect.

Keep working on the Southeast and Southwest states.  Another test will

          be coming up soon.

          Have a good week!

November

All of our saints came marching in on time and our bulletin board in the main hallway is up.  It looks fantastic and we can't wait for you to see it!

Don't forget to look for a cardboard egg carton for the after Thanksgiving Advent Wreath project.  Target is a good place to get one.

We're working on the research for the Southeast States and everyone who wanted to do a food has a date to bring it in.  We are aiming for next Friday, Grandparents Day, to have them hanging in the hall.

Thanks for all the help for the Halloween party!  Now we're on to getting up the turkeys!

Welcome to our classroom blog!

     Week of October 29-November 1, 2007

This week we are finishing our Family Life books.  Patron saint dolls are due tomorrow, Oct. 30.  They will be on the big bulletin board in the hall by the office.

If your child is trying to complete 300 pages for the October Book-It, the signed paper needs to be in by Wednesday, Oct. 31.  Also due Wednesday is a paint shirt and pumpkin, and after the Kindergarten/First Grade play we will be painting pumpkins with the Kindergarteners.

Our Halloween party is Wed. afternoon at 2:15.  Have a Happy Halloween and I'll see you at parent conferences!
